What are the disadvantages of owning a Ferrari?

If you own a nice supercar, for example, a Ferrari 458. The acceleration on mostly all supercars is very fast. But one of the disadvantages of having a supercar is that you can’t just park them anywhere because they might get scratched. And the maintenance for a Ferrari is more than $5,000 so you have to be careful where you park it.

First, a list of problems:

1. It’s expensive.
2. It’s impractical.
3. The tech and safety features are not what you’ll find even on a $50,000 Acura.
4. The ride quality is a bit harsh.
5. Visibility may be an issue (not a big problem in my opinion).
6. It attracts a lot of attention (maybe a good or bad thing, depending on your opinion).

Next, some troubleshooting:

1. If you’re wealthy, you shouldn’t even care about the cost of buying and maintaining a Ferrari (newer Ferraris are much more reliable).

2. If you’re driving to and from work, carrying maybe a briefcase and a few groceries, the Ferrari will serve the purpose. Just don’t do anything like this:

And yes, that’s a flat screen TV on the roof of the Ferrari 360 Modena.

3. Who wants those tech features when all you want to do is drive? I mean, it has a radio, it has bluetooth, it has HomeLink, and it has navigation. 99.9% of the time, you use only those tech features. Rarely do you use any of the other gizmos offered in cars. And as for safety features, get an aftermarket blind spot monitor or head up display for a few hundred bucks.

4. Well, you just have to deal with the ride quality. If people around the world are commuting with motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, and mopeds, you shouldn’t at all be complaining about your cozy, air conditioned, leather-lined bubble shielded from the elements.

5. The newer Ferraris have pretty good rear visibility. Old Ferraris may have a blind spot issue, but in a day with backup cameras, parking sensors, big mirrors, and well designed car exteriors, visibility has gone drastically up in these cars. With the exception of the LaFerrari, all Ferraris have decent rear view visibility.

6. You just got to deal with it. If you really care so much about attention, paint it in black, turn the horse logos 90 degrees to make it look like a Mustang, and muffle the exhausts. Or you could be one of those guys who ignores what others say.

But really, attention is something that comes with the car. Just deal with it. It’s not a bad thing.
