Audi plans to introduce new entry-level models below A3 and Q3

In an effort to tackle diminishing sales in the country, German car manufacture Audi is reportedly planning on introducing affordable products below the A3 sedan and the Q3 SUV. The new models might be introduced over a period of the next two-three years. It is believed that the products to be introduced are likely to be from the SUV, sedan and the hatchback segment.

The move is expected to help the company regain the top position in the local luxury vehicle market, which it had lost in 2015 after moving to the third spot behind Mercedes-Benz and BMW. The new models are expected to be priced between Rs 22 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs. It is also believed that Audi might introduce the Q2 SUV in India, however, the company is yet to confirm the same. What’s more, the company will focus on double-digit product launches every year starting this year.

Despite higher tax structure for luxury cars in India, the German car manufacturer will continue investing in the country. Speaking to media, Rahil Ansari, Audi India’s brand head, said, “India is a strategic market and we will continue to invest, however, currently the tax structure is very unfavourable which is preventing us from going full throttle in investment.”

More details about the new models will be known in the days to come.
