I had a ride in the new 12m TATA super express ( RNC 718 of KPA ) from KKD to TVM.

The bus looks good, nice design and good colors. It has good facilities like air suspension, driver controlled door but I didn’t find any mobile/ETM charging point.

The seat quality is better than first set of TATA 12m ( RNC 650 range buses ), but not as good as RNE/RNC leyland 12m. Seat height was at least 4 inches less than RNE expresses also interior finish was poor.

The bus reached Kozhikkode by 15.55, left on time at 16.10. Bus was completely packed ( most of the passengers were local tickets, few Thrissur and Ernakulam).

RNC 718- Kalpetta-Thiruvananthapuram Super Express

Whenever there is a steep ascend on road, our bus was struggling to pull up, I noticed fully loaded private buses overtaking us easily. At least 5 private buses and 3 lorries ( one was loaded ) overtook us.

When we reached Kunnumkulam, RNE 656 PALA SF that left Kozhikkode @ 16.30 overtook us and reached Thrissur before us.

We reached Thrissur at around 20.50 (40 minutes late), had a 20 minutes dinner break. While we where about to leave, I saw RNC 35 KKD-TVM SF which leaves KKD by 16.50 just arriving at Thrissur.

When we reached Kalamassery I saw RNC 35, going like a rocket and it just faded away… far away…

BANG..!!! reached Edapally at 21.45. It would have reached Ernakulam BS by 22.00. Almost 6 hours from Kozhikkode to Ernakulam in SUPER EXPRESS…!!!!

Kerala RTC rocks… Now, they are replacing all present Ashok Leyland Express buses with this new 12m TATA Super Express Air Buses. KSRTC didn’t study anything from the great experience of it’s TATA Globus AC Air buses.
