Vaikom: At a time when KSRTC is reeling under severe financial crunch, a Volvo low floor bus has been dumped at the yard here for the past 40 days just because a window glass needs to be replaced.

It is likely that the bus, worth lakhs of rupees, may be damaged further due to intermittent rains and hot sun. The bus that plies on Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam route generates a revenue of Rs 25,000 per day on an average.

The staff at the depot said that a window glass on the right side of the bus was damaged in a minor collision with another KSRTC bus and Rs 39,000 is required to repair this.

If this glass has to be replaced, the bus needs to be taken to the service centre at Aroor, where several buses are already waiting to get repaired.

Some staff alleged that the KSRTC is yet to pay arrears for the service centre and this is the reason for the delay in repair works.
