The KSRTC vigilance wing cracked down on irregularities in the clerical section at the Kodungaloor depot on Thursday.

Based on orders from KSRTC vigilance officer S Vasudharan Pillai, the Ernakulam vigilance officials started observing the workings of the depot and found out that there were inconsistencies in the attendance book.

Ernakulam IC M T Kunjappan told ‘Express’ that there were irregularities in giving cash to drivers and conductors who did double duty.

“The drivers and conductors who do double duty are supposed to come and give their attendance in the register book and then collect their cash. It was brought to our notice that their names were not entered in the register book after doing double duty even after they received the cash. So, they end up getting paid once again, which is a huge loss for the Corporation”, the official said.

At least fifteen such cases have been detected based on the register books of April and May.

“We have been observing the depot from July 11 and will continue our crackdown. We will question the concerned station master, the attendance clerk and the controlling inspector. If it was intentional, the consequences will be serious”, the officials said. The KSRTC officers have said that a crack down on all depots will take place in the coming days.
