A high alert has been sounded and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been pre-positioned as severe cyclonic storm Vardah is expected to make a landfall between north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh at around 1:30 pm today.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh.
