Earth sure must have rejoiced when Rajaneesh and Shalia entered wedlock. The environmental activist from the Mulavukad island and his bride have decided to present tree saplings as return gifts to the guests at their wedding reception on Sunday evening.

A thousand saplings of all varieties including mango, jack fruit and guava trees have been brought to the wedding hall to be presented to the guests as a thank-you note in place of the little paper cards.

Rajaneesh, the son of Eettummal Suresh Babu and Molly, and Shalia, the daughter of Festus and Sheela from Pachalam, got married at the Chottanikkara temple on May 28 after a four-year romance. Their wedding party is planned for Sunday evening at the St Mary’s Church auditorium in Mulavukad.

Rajaneesh, a member of the Mulavukad Cultural Fine Arts which works on conservation activities, thought of the novel idea to mark his wedding and arranged 1,000 saplings from the Forest Department.
