Students up to Class 12 are eligible to get travel concession on buses on the basis of their identity cards issued by the respective educational institutions or the uniform of the institutions.

A decision to this effect was taken at the district-level Students Travel Facility Committee, which met here on Saturday with District Collector R. Girija in the chair. No separate identity cards are needed for the concession, according to the committee.

Students of higher classes, ITI and professional colleges will get concession cards from the regional transport offices. A fee of Rs.5 will be charged for each card. The card will be valid for the duration of the course. It should be returned to the RTO after the completion of the course. Concession will be available on ordinary and ordinary limited-stop buses of the KSRTC. It will be available on buses plying on single bus routes also. Concession should not be denied to students of professional colleges and others who have to attend classes during vacation, the Collector said.
