Malappuram: As the efforts of technical experts from Volvo failed to recover the visuals of the theft of monitor in a low-floor AC bus of KURTC in Malappuram depot, police team is unlikely to make any headway in the investigation on the theft. The two-member team returned after they failed to recover visuals of theft from CCTV surveillance camera that was installed inside the bus.

A week ago, the monitor of the bus operating between Malappuram and Nedumbassery, which was parked in depot was stolen during night.

Though KURTC authorities had lodged a complaint with Malappuram police, investigation team is yet to get any clue regarding the culprits behind the theft. A section of KSRTC staff in the depot has already come up with the allegation that a gang of workers in the same depot are responsible for the incident and the move was to help the private bus operators, who are conducting daily services from Malappuram to Nedumbassery.
Meanwhile, a source in Malappuram depot of KSRTC, said that the cancellation of Nedumbasery-Malappuram service which recorded daily revenue of more than Rs 50,000, has caused huge loss for the corporation. It is learnt that the KSRTC are planning to purchase new monitor from the Volvo authorities to install in bus. But the procedures to purchase and install new monitor will cause further delay of restarting the service and it will also cause further loss of revenue.
KURTC is operating five services to Nedumbassery from Malappuram. These services are profit making, as large number of people from different parts of district depend on these services, after Karipur airport partially closed for runway development works.
