Thiruvananthapuram: The cash-strapped Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has refused to reply to an RTI query on the travel expenses and medical benefits availed by its higher officials.

The RTI had requested the details regarding the expenses incurred by the Corporation for the travel and meetings taken up by its former Managing Director. The Internal Audit section of the KSRTC did not reply to the query.

Some former officials of the KSRTC had reportedly created huge financial liability to the Corporation by means of airfares, meetings at star-hotels in Bengaluru, consultancy dealings, travel allowance, hotel stay, taxi charge and medical benefits.

It is alleged that the officials held crucial meetings at the star hotels of Bengaluru at a time when the KSRTC has been reeling under severe financial crisis. These bills were passed by the Internal Audit section at the Chief Office.
