KSRTC driver oversleeps, skips duty, later cuts vein fearing action

Kayamkulam: KSRTC driver who failed to report for duty on time as he overslept, cut his vein to avoid disciplinary action against him. The incident took place at Kayamkulam KSRTC depot on Wednesday at around 6 am.

Driver Ochira native Bimal (42) was supposed to report for duty at 5.45 in the morning. But he fell asleep in the depot and the service had to be cancelled. Later District Transport Officer (DTO) woke him up by 6 am and scolded him for failing to report for duty.

The driver cut his vein following this incident in order to avoid disciplinary action. The employees in the depot immediately took him to hospital. The employees said that the driver was alarmed as the KSRTC has recently tightened rules against erring staff.
