Following the death of a three-year-old kid after he was run over by a bus at KSRTC stand in Aluva on Friday night, the police plan to impose traffic regulation at the stand from Sunday.

A new bus stand will come up on the eastern side of the stand for long-distance buses to facilitate safe movement of passengers. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of police officers and KSRTC officials on Saturday.

“Currently, buses have been parked with the front side facing the ground. This often forces people to move to the ground to read the name plate on the parked buses raising possibilities of accidents. The meeting decided to park buses facing shops in the terminal and on opposite side of the ground, buses will be parked facing the fencing. Buses will have to take reverse to proceed service. The conductor can help the driver to take the reverse,” said V S Thilakan, assistant transport officer in Aluva.

Besides, buses will be parked on 45 degree angle as against 90 degree, which is currently being followed. Marking will be drawn for parking of each bus in the stand.
