The entire political leadership of Kerala descended on Paravur to share the grief of the victims of the Puttingal Devi temple fireworks tragedy, cancelling all their programmes. It turned to be a show of solidarity which permeated down the official hierarchy. It was seen in the smooth manner in which the relief operations were organised. The arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Radda also proved to be of great help in coordinating the Union and State governments’ efforts.

Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who directed the KSRTC to deploy five buses to transport the victims to hospital, said that the KSRTC authorities would respond to further requests for assistance in transporting victims.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar were on hand when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi arrived, separately, at the tragedy site.
