The state government has rejected the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) request, seeking more financial assistance to distribute pensions.

In a letter to KSRTC Managing Director, the Transport Secretary said that the demand for fund outside plan outlay cannot be accepted.

The letter also asks the Corporation to form a corpus fund immediately to distribute pensions. The Transport Secretary was of the view that the practice of seeking government fund for working capital cannot be accepted.

The letter was sent to the MD on July 11. The KSRTC had requested additional fund under non-plan grant.

Recently, the Corporation took further loan from KTDFC towards working capital. This move has come under severe criticism.

The letter states that the main reason for the KSRTC making huge losses is its practice of sanctioning large number of free-passes.
