Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to launch 50 new super deluxe buses with rear air and front weveller suspension chassis on the state roads.

The department has invited tenders for the buses which will hit the roads within six months, according to KSRTC sources, who said that the newly built buses will replace the 20 inter-state AC buses that were withdrawn a few months ago and the 30 express buses that have already crossed their lifetime.

The new buses are set to be used for long distance routes, both for interstate and inner state services.

“We were not able to meet the needs of inter-state buses after the withdrawal of AC buses. In their place, the department used to run express class buses.

But the Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru and Ernakulam-Bengaluru routes need more buses.

The new super deluxe buses will hopefully solve these problems to an extent,” said a top source in KSRTC.
