An Odisha-man, who posed as a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE), was arrested by the Railway Police here on Saturday.

Deepak Kumar (23) boarded the train from Cherthala and started to check the tickets of passengers. As he went on with his ‘duty’, he also asked for tickets from Alappuzha Railway Station Chief Commercial Clerk Rajendran.

Suddenly, the official sensed something fishy in his mannerisms and sought his identity card. Deepak told him that his ID cards are with a higher official, who assigned him with the task. However, when his ‘higher official’ failed to show up, the passengers informed the matter to the RPF.

As the train reached Alappuzha, the RPF took Deepak to custody.

On interrogation, Deepak said he is an employee of a private firm and acted as TTE just for fun. However, the police registered a case for impersonation. He was presented before the court and later remanded into custody.
