The ring road bus service of the KSRTC titled ‘Rajadhani’ was launched in the city by chief minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday.
The service, linking urban and rural areas of the city, has been launched from the East Fort, Pappanamcode and Venjarammoodu depots of the KSRTC. These services would be circular in nature and would operate both in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions beginning from the respective station and ending at the same point.
A total of 10 buses have been dedicated for the ring road service presently. Four services will operate from the Venjarammoodu depot service and will cover Eenchakkal, Kazhakkoottam, Vettu Road, Pothankod, Vembayam and Kesavadasapuram.
Four buses from the Pappanamcode depot will cover East Fort, Kannammoola, Medical College, Kesavadasapuram, Mannanthala, Peroorkkada, Vattiyoorkkavu, Valiyavila and Karamana.
One pair of buses from the East Fort depot will run in both directions to cover East Fort, Poonthura, Valiyathura, Veli, All Saints’ College, Pallimukku, Kannamoola, Medical College, Kesavadasapuram and Palayam.
The services would be extended to Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad, and Chirayinkeezhu taluks in due course.
നഗരങ്ങളെയും നാട്ടുമ്പുറങ്ങളെയും ഒരുപോലെ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുകയും വികസനത്തിന് പുത്തന്‍ പാത തുറക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന പുതിയ റിങ്ങ് റോഡ് ബസ് സര്‍വ്വീസുകളുടെ സംസ്ഥാനതല ഉദ്ഘാടനം മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉമ്മന്‍ചാണ്ടി നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചു. ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മെച്ചപെട്ട സേവനം ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നതിനാണ് നഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചും കെ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ടി.സി.യെ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ സഹായിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. ജനങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതീക്ഷയ്ക്ക ഒത്ത് ഉയരാന്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരും ജീവനക്കാരും തയ്യാറാകണമെന്നും ബസ്സുകള്‍ ഫ്ളാഗ് ഓഫ് ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിച്ചു.
റിംഗ് റോഡ് ബസ് സര്‍വ്വീസുകള്‍ എല്ലാ ജില്ലകളിലും വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുമെന്നും ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരത്തില്‍ 25 ബസ്സുകളാണ് അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടുളളതെന്നും ചടങ്ങിന് അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച ഗതാഗത വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി വി.എസ്.ശിവകുമാര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. നെയ്യാറ്റിന്‍കരയിലെ സര്‍വ്വീസുകള്‍ക്ക് ഇന്ന് തുടക്കമാകും.
കിഴക്കേകോട്ടയില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ മേയര്‍ അഡ്വ.കെ.ചന്ദ്രിക, എം.എല്‍.എ.മാരായ എം.എ.വാഹീദ്, വി.ശിവന്‍കുട്ടി, കെ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ടി.സി.എം.ഡി.കെ.ജി.മോഹന്‍ലാല്‍, ജനപ്രതിനിധികള്‍,ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ സംസാരിച്ചു.
