A news is spreading that the new government has decided to post former KSRTC M.D Mr Alexander K Luke as the new chairman and managing director of the state-owned transport corporation, KSRTC. But the news is not confirmed officially.

Mr. Luke holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Mr. Luke has 35 years of professional experience. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1975 and took voluntary retirement in 2006. During his years in the government service, he has served as Managing Director in various companies including Gujarat State Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizer Limited, Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation and Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited.

 

He was also the Chairman and Managing Director of the Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited and Travancore Titanium Products Limited.

As the Managing Director of the GACL and GSFC, he led the revival of both companies, which have become well known turn around cases. GNFC performance improved substantially under his direction. The Sardar Sarovar project went through a resurgence during his tenure. In March 2001, The Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, presented the
Distinguished Alumnus Award to him “In recognition of his outstanding and dedicated service in the field of Public Administration.”

He has continued the work of reviving companies after coming to Kerala. Joining KMML as Chairman and Managing Director on 17 th December 2007, the company was able to move from a loss during April to December 2007 to a profit
of 10.4 Crores by 31st March 2008. This was followed by a profit of 70.8 crores during the year 2008-2009. Now the company shows major achievements in all areas like Production, Sales, Profitability and also cost reduction.

In addition he has also been recently appointed as Chairman & Managing Director of Travancore Titanium Products Ltd., Thiruvananthapuram, a sick unit which is now being nursed back to health by his efforts.

He is also keen on employee welfare activities and encouraging them in all cultural/art and sports activities. Mr. Luke is from Chathannoor and looks after his farming activities when not engaged with official duties.
