A pious darshan during Karkidakam

During Karkidakam, it is considered auspicious to have darshans of all the four brothers – Rama, Bharatha, Lakshmana and Shathrugna – at a stretch and the rush is increasing by every year. The process of visiting the temples of four deities at a stretch is called “Nalambala darshan”.

Nalambala Darshan starts with the darshan of Sri Rama at Sri Rama Temple Thriprayar, Sri Bharatha at Sri Koodal Manickam temple Irinjalakuda, Sri Lakshmana at Sri Laksmana Perumal Temple Moozhikkulam and Sri Shatrugna Darshan at Sri Sathrugna Swami Temple. All the three temples, except Moozhikkulam, are in Thrissur and Moozhikkulam is in Ernakulam.

As part of augmenting the trip from Irinjalakuda, KSRTC Depot Irinjalakuda have been conducting Nalambalam trips during the season for the last ten years having two trips daily at 6 am and 6.30 am from KSRTC bus stand.

The devotees can have easy darshans at all the four temples with conductors making the way for darshans at all these temples. Devotees can mount the bus from Sri Koodal Manickam Temple also.Arrangements can be made for the reservation of seats, the details of which are available from the KSRTC office (0480-2823990).

What is interesting is that the conductor of one of the buses, Subramanian, is known as ‘Nalambalam Man’. Subramanian had been doing this consecutively for the past ten years. This year, Subramanian will be with the bus starting at 6.30 pm.

According to temple authorities, his humility with the passengers and the rapport he has made with all the Temple authorities is an added plus and a boon for the devotees travelling with him.
