150 KSRTC drivers given punishment transfer

Initiating disciplinary action against its employees to ensure effective operation, the KSRTC on Monday ordered ‘punishment transfer’ of 150 bus drivers for being irregular in performing duties. A directive in this regard was issued by the Corporation Managing Director Tomin J Thachankary. “There are employees who have attended duty only for 10 days in a month. Such unpunctual action by the employees will not be entertained by the corporation. Serious action will be taken if they continue with the same attitude,” said Thachankary.

The list based on the duties of drivers during the past six months was prepared by the corporation unit officers. The current list includes names of the drivers who have attended their duty for less than 10 days in a month, from various districts. According to Thachankary, many services were cancelled due to staff shortage.

If the staff do not perform their duty on time it becomes a burden on the corporation. The KSRTC has devised an action plan for service improvement, he said. The corporation bus drivers were mainly transferred to the northern units of the state, including Kasargod, Kannur and Thalassery. Thachankary also directed the officers to do an analysis on the punctuality of other staff of the corporation. The list of conductors who faced disciplinary action will be out in two days.
