In yet another case of kidnapping in Tirumala, an unidentified woman, said to be in her 40s, picked up a girl near the free accommodation area of the temple town.

CCTV footage shows the woman, clad in a saree, approach the girl as she was refilling her water bottle, and walk away with her.

The girl has been identified as Nandini, and her parents Suresh and Dakshayani, were reported to own a tea shop at Tirumala. They were natives of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.

Nandini’s parents approached the Tirumala police on Monday, after they could not trace her, following which the police checked CCTV footage.

Stating that special teams had been formed to lookout for the girl and rescue her, Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty also released a photo of the kidnapper.

“TTD vigilance and the police have already sent their teams to Vellore in Tamil Nadu. It is suspected that the women took the girl to some place on the Vellore bus route as per the CCTV footage,” Tirumala JEO KS Srinivasa Raju was quoted as saying.

This is the second such case of abduction to be reported in the town, within two months.

On June 14, CCTV footage showed a couple kidnap a nine-month-old infant from his parents.

The Tirumala police were able to trace the address of the kidnappers on June 27, by using their Aadhaar cards.

The infant was finally rescued in Namakkal in Tamil Nadu on June 29.
