Traffic regulations will be in place on the Kazhakoottam-Kovalam bypass road from 5 am to 5 pm on Monday in connection with pongala at Karikkakom Sri Chamundi Temple. As per instructions from the police, KSRTC buses from and towards East Fort and Thampanoor sides have to reach Pettah police station- Kannamoola-Kumarapuram-Poonthi Road-World Market junction and move to East Fort and Thampanoor areas via Chackai bypass junction in front of the Karikkakom temple.

 

Vehicular traffic will not be allowed from Chackai Junction to Kazhakkottam and vehicles have to take the Kallumoodu- Ponnara bridge-Valiyathura-Shanghumugham-Veli-Thumba route or Chackai-Pettah-Kumarapuram-Medical college- Sreekariyam route or Pattoor-General Hospital-Asan Square- Palayam-Pattom-Ulloor-Sreekariyam route to Kazhakkottam side.

KSRTC buses which take devotees after pongala towards Attingal, have to be stationed inside Venpalavattom World Market compound or along the western side of Kazhakoottam road of the proposed KSRTC garage to Toll Gate.

There will be restrictions for other vehicles moving towards Chackai from Mukkolakkal side. Vehicles going to Airport side have to take the Mukkolakkal-Thumba police station-Veli-Madhavapuram-All Saints route. Vehicles towards Kovalam from Kazhakoottam should take the Beach Road- All Saints – Sanghumugham-Valiyathura-Poonthura route. Vehicles from Kovalam to Attingal should go via Thiruvallam- Manacaud- East Fort- Palayam- Pattom-Ulloor- Sreekariyam or Poonthura-Valiaythura- Sanghumugham- Veli-Thumba Kazhakootam or Thumba-Puthenthoppu-Puthukurichi-Azhoor-Chirayinkeezhu.

From Kazhakoottam to Thampanoor and East Fort side, vehicles must take Kazhakoottam-Sreekariyam-Ulloor route.

Vehicles will not be allowed near the temple from Chackai YMA club, Vazhavila bridge, Sreeragam Lane, Pump House, Ganapathi temple.

Devotees have to park vehicles along Chackai-All Saints – Shanghumugham Road and Chackai-Pettah-General Hospital Road and Chackai-Enchakkal sides without causing inconvenience to traffic.

No vehicle, including KSRTC buses, will be allowed to park anywhere on the Madhavapuram-Veli-Venpalavattom route and at Venpalavattom Temple Junction-KIMS Junction area. KSRTC buses taking devotees at Kumarapuram can take the route via KIMS Junction, Venpalavattom Junction and ply towards East Fort and Attingal side.

Police have warned that vehicles should not be overloaded.

If vehicles are parked, either driver or a  helper should be present inside or the phone number should be clearly displayed. Pongala hearths have to kept at a  safe distance away from the parked vehicles and devotees should take precautions.
