A video has gone viral on social media that shows people jumping into a river to save occupants of a half-sunk vehicle from drowning.

The car was carrying a newlywed couple and three other people when it fell into the Malay river in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Sunday, reported NDTV.

The locals spotted the floating car in the high-speed current and jump into action quickly. The river’s current was stronger than usual due to the heavy rainfall and it caused the car to sweep away for about 500 meters.

The local villagers spotted the floating car and jumped into the river to save the occupants. The locals broke the windows of the car to rescue the occupants.

The car, occupied by the wedding party, was returning to the groom’s village when it fell off a bridge and was swept away by the strong currents of the river.

It was carried away in the river for half a kilometer before locals smashed its windows to rescue the occupants.

Last year, a Haryana youth pushed his new luxury car into a river. The reason was his parents gifted him a BMW instead of A Jaguar.

Angry with his demand not being fulfilled, the young man pushed his new BMW into a river on August 9. The luxurious car floated for some time in the river but it got stuck in the middle of the river owing to a patch of tall grass.

The man even made a video of the incident and sent it to his father. “When the youth was plunging the high-end BMW car into the river, he also made a video and put it on social media,” a police official told news agency IANS.

The man was spotted trying to get the car out of the river with the help of local divers. The police have filed a case in the incident and taken the man into custody for interrogation.
