Footage of a brave rail worker saving the life of a ‘drunk’ cyclist by pushing him off the tracks before a train has been revealed as a fake.

The video left hundreds astounded by the nerve-wracking moment which shows the hapless cyclist, who appears to be drunk, attempting to cross the tracks before the man saves him.

But sceptics on social media who questioned the validity of the footage have been proved right.

The shadow of the rail worker who runs to save the doomed cyclist can be seen on the left of the video. But when the train passes no shadow can be seen.

The video of the train has been edited onto the footage of the worker pushing the cyclist.

CCTV footage usually shows a date and time but this video has none which led many to question its authenticity.
