Driver miraculously survives after car smashed by crane

This is the incredible moment a driver survives after his car was smashed by a huge construction crane in southeast China.

Mr Li, 29, was driving on a busy road when the crane suddenly collapsed, destroying his white Audi. He managed to get out of the car from the roof and was taken to the hospital. He reportedly suffered fractures in his right ankle.

CCTV footage posted on Pear Video captures how the long boom fell onto the windscreen of the moving Audi in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.

Moments later, a man came out from the car roof as a passer-by driver rushed to help. The incident happened at 8:15 am on October 17 when Mr Li was driving to work.

He recalled: ‘There was no sign at all and I think I was in a blind spot when the crane fell.’My mind went blank and I was holding the pain when I crawled out of the car.’

Mr Li was taken to hospital and found to have fractures on his right ankle after a computerised tomography scan.

The crane lost its balance and toppled, causing the long boom to collapse and hit the road. Zhuhai policemen are investigating the cause of the incident.
