You can learn drifting anywhere where you can slide a car in safety, legally and without annoying anyone! However, it’s probably best to keep it to the track as it allows your mind to focus on your driving and what the car is doing, rather than if the cops are going to come around the corner! Better again, take a few lessons in a good drift school and learn the techniques from a pro, then go off and practice them.
Drifting is all about feel and practice. You gotta feel it to be any good at it, because if you have to think about what you’re going to do next, it’s already too late, so it’s all about track time really.
