In a bid to provide speedier travel to major towns and cities, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) launched the bypass night rider ‘Minnal’ services.

The services, with limited stops, have fares on a par with the super class services of the transport utility. The KSRTC has deployed 16 buses with push back seats and air suspension for eight schedules it is operating daily. The buses of white and red colour have the ‘lightning’ motif painted on its either sides, signifying the name of the fleet. These are long distance buses and some are operated during night hours.

A Race between KSRTC Minnal Service and Train

The longest route of Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod will be covered in 11 hours and 30 minutes. The schedules had been planned to reach the destination before the trains running on the route.

Minnal is popular because we are able to reach destinations in a short time. Passengers who make unreasonable demands for unscheduled stops forget about the convenience of the rest of the passengers. The 41-seater super-deluxe buses feature 2×2 reclining seats and rear air suspension. Though the service is faster than super class services of KSRTC, passengers have to pay the same fare as other services.
