The Yamaha Fascino is powered by a 113cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 7bhp and 8Nm of torque, while the manufacturer claims a mileage of 66km/l.

2. TVS SCOOTY ZEST 110

The TVS Scooty Zest is primarily targeted at women and takes pride in the fact that it is the only scooter to have tackled the mighty Himalayas by a woman. The Zest is a great commuter that has a perfect blend of style and efficiency. The TVS Scooty Zest 110 is powered by a 110cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 8bhp and 9Nm of torque with the help of a CVT gearbox. TVS claims a mileage of 62km/l and the Zest weighs 98kg, making it the lightest scooter in the Indian market.

3. YAMAHA RAY Z

The Yamaha Ray-Z is an attractive-looking, light scooter that was earlier targeted at women, but now is more universal. The scooter is powered by a 113cc engine with a maximum power output of 7bhp and a peak torque output of 8Nm.

4. HONDA ACTIVA

The Honda Activa is the best-selling scooter in India and it is also one of the best scooters for women riders. The Honda Activa is a light and nimble scooter with a host of features such as LED headlight, digital instrument cluster and much more. The fifth generation Activa retains the same design and draws power from a 109.19cc engine and delivers a claimed mileage of 60km/l. 5. HONDA DIO

The Access has been Suzuki’s best-selling scooter for a while now with over 2.65 lakh units sold in FY2017. In 2017, Suzuki has updated the Access with a BS IV compliant engine and AHO. Ouput of the 124 cc engine continues to be the same at 8.6 bhp and 10.2 Nm. The suspension up front is telescopic and one can opt for a disc brake variant as well. The Access has a decent list of features as well.

7. HERO MAESTRO EDGE

The Maestro Edge is one of Hero MotoCorp’s largest selling scooters. The Maestro Edge is powered by a 110.9 cc engine which churns out 8 bhp and 8.7 Nm of torque. Like the Jupiter, the Maestro Edge too gets a host of features such as LED tail lamp, telescopic suspension up front and a BS IV compliant engine with AHO. The Maestro Edge gets a 12-inch wheel up front with a 10-inch wheel at the rear. 

8. TVS SCOOTY PEP PLUS

The TVS Scooty Pep Plus is the smallest displacement automatic scooter sold in the Indian market today. The scooter carries forward the well-known ‘Scooty’ brand name which is almost synonymous with automatic scooters in India. The TVS Scooty Pep Plus comes powered by a 88cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 5bhp and 6Nm of torque with the help of a CVT gearbox. TVS claims a mileage of 68km/l and the Scooty Pep Plus weighs 95kg.

9. TVS WEGO

The TVS Wego is a practical choice for women as it features body balance technology, adequate under-seat storage, and a variety of colours to chose from. The Wego is also offered with Sync-Brake System, which engages both brakes when one of the levers is pulled. The TVS Wego is powered by a 110cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 8bhp and 8Nm of torque mated to a CVT gearbox. TVS claims a mileage of 70km/l and the Wego weighs 108kg.

10. TVS JUPITER

The TVS Jupiter is the second best-selling scooter after the Activa range and it’s not difficult to understand why. TVS has fully loaded the Jupiter with convenient features such as external fuel-filler cap, telescopic suspension, optional disc brake, USB port for charging mobile phones, a pass-switch and also has a claimed fuel efficiency of 62 kmpl. The Jupiter also gets 12-inch wheels at front and rear, and bigger wheels give it very good ride quality.  The 109 cc motor puts out 8 bhp and 8 Nm, comparable to the competition.
