All the KSRTC Deports is financially struggling for their survival and is being pledged to various financial institutions. It is at this sad predicament that MBA students of SAIAS Ponkunnam have ventured out with practical solutions to overcome the crisis.

It was with the explicit approval of the Director Rev. Dr. Antony Nirappel, Shibu Thankachan  (Principal, SAIAS Ponkunnam), Mrs. Mariamma Alex (HOD, Department of Commerce and Management, SAIAS, Ponkunnam), and all the faculties that the students conducted a research on the issue.

Their research report was submitted to the Hon’ble Transport Minister Shri.A.K. Saseendran in a function held for the purpose in Leela Mahal, Ponkunnam on 6th February 2017.

The Ist and IInd year MBA students of SAIAS, Ponkunnam studied and analysed the problems KSRTC faced. The students met employees and passengers of 14 Districts and visited 75 KSRTC Deports to collect reliable data for their project. The interviews with former KSRTC MD’s Shri.Sen Kumar IPS and Shri.Antony Chacko are included in the project report.

Testimonials from various Trade Union heads and Bus Passenger Association leader  Shri.Dijo Kappen add to the credibility of the report. The ratio between KSRTC and Private Buses on important routes, schedule management in Chief Deports, revenue collection etc. have been studied thoroughly.

Practical solutions derived from scientific study have been proposed in their project report. The report was prepared under the supervision of Dr.Antony Joseph (HOD – Commerce,  Henry Baker College) and Shri.James Vadakkan (Planning Board Working Group Member). The strenuous and dedicated contributions of MBA students of SAIAS, Ponkunnam should be a model and inspiration to all.
