Kids give rubbish collector Christmas surprise

When five-year-old Alexis asked if he could give Terrance a Christmas card and present to say thank you for collecting their rubbish all year, his father Richard made contact to arrange the surprise.

Last Thursday Alexis got to meet his hero, Terrance.

As the truck pulled up to collect the rubbish, Richard went up to the window with the boys and handed Terrance a wrapped present.

“Thanks for your help, we really appreciate it”, Richard said on behalf of the boys. The boys gave Terrence some craft beer, chocolate and coffee. Happy with their good deed, the boys asked if they could wave goodbye to Terrance and the rubbish truck.

But in a surprising twist, Terrance stepped out of the truck and walked over to the boys and handed them a bag fill of Christmas presents.

“I’ve got a little gift for you too,” Terrance told the boys.

“Here you go – merry Christmas!”

Terrence brought Alexis and Xavier a beach bag with a towel and sunscreen, much to the delight of the boys.

“It’s nice to acknowledge people who make our lives better,” Richard told
