The Karnataka State Road Transport Corp. (KSRTC) Wednesday said it will resume regular services to Tamil Nadu, two days after the state-run organization suspended operations after few of its vehicles were damaged post the demise of Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa.

Tamil Nadu remained tense post Jayalalithaa’s cardiac arrest on Sunday and her demise a day later. Many vehicles, including cabs, private vehicles and buses, especially from Karnataka, stayed off the roads fearing violence. However, most parts of Tamil Nadu remained calm as the state observes seven-day mourning to mark the death of 68-year-old Jayalalithaa.

On Tuesday, the KSRTC had instructed all its staff in Tamil Nadu to remain in bus depots as a precautionary measure.

The KSRTC has around 470 daily departures to locations in Tamil Nadu, according to the department. Losses from suspending operations were around Rs1.5 crores, according to the spokesperson of the state-run corporation.
