VELLORE: Condemning an alleged attack on a Tamil Naduyouth in Bengaluru for posting his views on the Cauvery issue on social media, functionaries of VCK on Monday blocked aKarnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus atAmbur and damaged it. The police arrested 21 people in connection with this.

Police said the bus, plying between Bengaluru and Chennai, was blocked by VCK cadre led by the party’s Ambur town secretary Sakthi around 11am. They have also damaged the vehicle and raised slogans against the Karnataka government and the attack on the Tamil Nadu youth.

The Ambur town station police rushed to the spot and prevented the protesters from causing any major damage to the vehicle. The bus resumed journey around 11.30 am, after the police arrested the protesters.

The police registered a case against the protesters on charges of unlawful assembly and causing damage to public property.

In the meantime, the students of Government Law College in Katpadi staged a demonstration to register their protest against the attack on the Tamil Nadu youth in Bengaluru.
The law college students, who staged the protest near Silk Milk Bus stop, urged the Karnataka government to ensure the safety of Tamils living there and also insisted that the neighbouring state should adhere to the Supreme Court order on the water dispute. They also emphasised on inter-linking of rivers.

Police sources said miscreants damaged the windshield of a Karnataka bus – going to Bengaluru from Chennai — at Veppur near Arcot on Sunday night. However, no case was registered.
