Zones and Divisions of Indian Railways

Indian Railways (IR) is divided into zones, which are further sub-divided into divisions, each having a divisional headquarters. Each of the divisions is headed by a Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), who reports to the General Manager (GM) of the zone. So, today we are discussing about zones and divisions of Indian Railways.

1. Northern Railway (NR)

The Zonal Headquarters Office of Northern Railways is at Baroda House, New Delhi and divisional headquarters are located at:

– Delhi – Ambala – Firozpur – Lucknow NR – Moradabad

2. North Eastern Railway (NER)

It is headquartered at Gorakhpur and divisional headquarters are located at:

– Izzatnagar – Lucknow NER – Varanasi

3. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)

It is headquartered at Guwahati and divisional headquarters are located at:

– Katihar – Alipurduar – Lumding – Rangiya – Tinsukia

4. Eastern Railway (ER)

Its headquarters is at Fairley Place, Kolkata and comprises four divisions:

– Howrah – Sealdah – Asansol – Malda

5. South Eastern Railway (SER)

It is headquartered at Garden Reach, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It comprises four divisions:

– Adra – Chakradharpur – Kharagpur – Ranchi

6. South Central Railway (SCR)

It’s headquarters is at Secunderabad and comprises six divisions:

– Guntakal – Guntur – Nanded – Secunderabad – Hyderabad – Vijayawada

7. Southern Railway (SR)

The Southern Railway headquartered at Chennai Central and comprises six divisions:

– Chennai – Madurai – Palghat – Trichy – Trivendrum

8. Central Railway (CR)

It’s headquarters is in Mumbai at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. It comprises five divisions:

– Mumbai – Nagpur – Bhusawal – Pune – Sholapur

9. Western Railway (WR)

It’s headquarters is in Mumbai at Churchgate. It comprises six divisions:

– Vadodara – Ahmedabad – Rajkot – Bhavnagar – Ratlam – Mumbai WR

10. South Western Railway (SWR)

It is headquartered at Hubli and comprises three divisions:

– Bangalore – Mysore – Hubli

11. North Western Railway (NWR)

It is headquartered at Jaipur and comprises four divisions:

– Jaipur – Ajmer – Bikaner – Jodhpur

12. West Central Railway (WCR)

It is headquartered at Jabalpur and comprises three divisions:

– Jabalpur – Bhopal – Kota

13. North Central Railway (NCR)

It is headquartered at Allahabad and comprises three divisions:

– Allahabad – Jhansi – Agra

14. South East Central Railway (SECR)

It is headquartered at Bilaspur and comprises three divisions:

– Bilaspur – Nagpur – Raipur

15. East Coast Railway (ECoR)

It is headquartered at Bhubaneswar and comprises three divisions:

– Khurda Road – Waltair – Sambhalpur

16. East Central Railway (ECR)

It is headquartered at Hajipur and comprises five divisions:

– Sonpur – Samastipur – Danapur – Mughalsarai – Dhanba
