Youth shot dead by gang in moving TNSTC bus

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old youth was shot dead by a two-member unidentified gang in a moving Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus at Sattur, wednesday.

Police said the victim K.Karuppasamy, hailing from Valluvar Nagar at Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district was going to Coimbatore and when the bus was crossing Sattur bypass road, two persons, who were also travelling in the same bus pulled out a gun and shot him in point blank range, after an altercation.

Panic prevailed in the bus as the passengers started screaming on witnessing the cold-blooded murder. The driver of bus immediately stopped the vehicle on hearing the gun shot sound.

The unidentified assailants jumped out of the bus in the melee and escaped from the spot.

Karuppasamy died inside the bus in a pool of blood.

Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police M.Rajarajan and finger print experts visited the bus and held inquiry with the bus crew.

Preliminary investigations reveled that Karuppasamy, who was working as an ambulance driver of a private hospital in Coimbatore came to his native two days ago for Pooja holidays. He boarded the bus at Kovilpatti and took a ticket to Coimbatore to join the duty.

Karuppasamy’s two brothers murdered one Abdullah over previous enmity on July 2, last at Kovilpatti and both of them were presently lodged in the prison. Police suspect Karuppasamy might have been murdered to avenge the killing of Abdullah. Special teams were formed to nab the assailants.
