Watch: Monkey drives KSRTC bus in Karnataka

A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver’s video with a gray langur behind the wheels has gone viral. In the video, the driver Prakash, from KSRTC’s Davanagere division, can be seen driving with a langur sitting comfortably on the steering wheel. While changing gears he even allows the langur to take control of the wheel. The incident was reported on October 1 in a KSRTC bus plying from Davanagere to Bharamasagara, reported Times of India.

“We have removed the driver from duty and have asked the divisional security inspector to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report. He won’t be assigned any further duty till probe is completed; he could even be suspended,” a senior KSRTC official told.

According to the KSRTC department, the langur belonged to a teacher who travels regularly in the bus with his monkey. After entering the bus the langur climbed off to the steering and remained there for 10 minutes. It even refused to leave despite repeated efforts by passengers to remove it from there.

None of the passengers objected to it and so far no one gave any written complaint. However, after the video went viral on social media, people started complaining about negligence on drivers’ part while others said that it shows the love of the driver towards the animal. The KSRTC which has already ordered an investigation has said that if allegations of negligence are proved then he will be taken off from the field duty and will be allocated a desk job. The driver has already been taken off from the field duty.
