The KSRTC operated special services for passengers of the Bangalore- Ernakulam Intercity Express which derailed at Hosur. Ten buses of KSRTC ,which have been operating service from Bangalore, reached the spot before noon. “The passengers chose to go back to Bangaluru as it was the nearer destination,’’ said KSRTC managing director and chairman Antony Chacko.
Two officials who were in charge of operating services of the KSRTC in Bengaluru also reached the spot by noon. Public announcement with the help of the local police was also arranged to inform the people about the special service. The state utility also operated one bus each from Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam to Hosur for the relatives of the passengers to reach the spot as per the request of the Southern Railways. A bus was also operated from Anekal taluk hospital, to where the injured had been shifted, to Kottayam as majorityof those passengers were from the district. All border depots were also alerted to do the necessary arrangements and to operate special services if needed against the backdrop of the accident.
Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan directed the CMD to operate additional services in consultation with the Railways.
