Coorg River Rafting Experience

Rafting in Coorg, through the Barapole River’s roaring currents is indeed an experience worth cherishing. The activity begins with your arrival at Barapole which is known as Kithu Kakathu River. You can participate in this activity of 1-2 hours anytime between 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM. You will be getting a briefing from experts, followed by a drill and the run that will take you in the river for a distance of 2.5 km. The base camp lies near the Ponya Devarakad. You will be entering the first stretch of rapids of rafting in Coorg after 600 meters of paddling from the pool, which is called Morning Coffee, a level 2 range of rapids.

After a 4 km calm section the river then drops through several kilometers of class 3, 4 and even class 5 rapids before it enters Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary plummeting over a 120 feet falls.

Then make sure that you are enjoying 3 stretches of this highly technical and (in high water levels) very difficult class 3 to 4 rapids. It is one of the most challenging raftings available for the general public in South India.

Rapids are exotically named; Morning Coffee, Grasshopper, Wicked Witch and finally, Big Bang.

All those who are between the age of 14 and 60 can participate in this thrilling adventure activity and select any time slot between 09:00 AM and 03:00 PM.

Advisory

You are advised to change in to T-Shirts, Shorts or Trousers with adequate foot wear like floaters during rafting.

Ladies are not allowed to wear sarees while rafting.

Children below 14 years and pregnant ladies are not allowed.

Consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicating products is strictly prohibited during this trip.

For safety purposes, do pay heed to the guidelines given by the instructors.

Weight should be below 110 Kg.

Avoid loose or bulky clothing, wear shoes or floaters, empty all pockets and avoid carrying any jewellery items and watches.

The rafting instructors are really nice, they provided all details, so first timers can just leave all worries as those guys will be very helpful.
