5 Stupid things people believe about Dubai

Every city in the world has some clichés associated with them, be it in India or anywhere else in the world. These clichés are not usually felt by the natives or the residents unless tourists walk in and point out at these preconceived notions by asking questions or expressing astonishment.

Dubai is no different, and this city also has its fair share of ridiculous clichés and questions that are thrown at the natives and residents by tourists.

Here are five most common silly and funny stereotypes about Dubai and its people.

1. Everyone is rich: Dubai is seen as a rich, luxurious city having people with grand lifestyle. No, not everyone in Dubai is rich or have extravagant ways of life. However, the city has various options if you want to spend money.

2. All about malls and shopping: Not really! If you are a traveller and want to explore Dubai, then go for desert safaris and experience camping. Malls are good but not the beginning and end of everything in Dubai.

3. Dubai summers: It is harsh, and the best way to beat it is by staying indoors. But then, there are beaches to visit in the afternoon and of course, malls to cool down a bit.

4. Is Dubai a country?: Dubai is not a country, and also it is not a capital city. This city is in the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi is the capital city of this country.

5. Only skyscrapers, no natural areas?: People see Dubai as a city of tall buildings, skyscrapers, wide roads, and all modern architectural wonders. Nature only gifted a patch of sand by the sea upon which the whole city is built. However, presently the city has some green areas, old-fashioned markets, and museums that show its limited diversity.
