Commuters travelling along long-distance routes in Tamil Nadu and to neighbouring states will have more comfortable bus travel as the State Express Transport Corporation(SETC) introduced newly-built AC Sleepr Coach Air Buses.

SETC introduced AC sleeper buses in the routes of Chennai – Ernakulam and Velankanni – Ernakulam too. Here we are sharing a video that captured the external and internal parts of the bus which is plying on Chennai – Ernakulam Route.

In India’s passenger Road Transport Sector, SETC is setting a benchmark in a large number of operational areas. SETC has become the most preferred Transport service provided for the people of Tamil Nadu and its neighboring states. SETC vehicles connecting Chennai City with adjoining states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry and with various Districts of Tamil Nadu. It has a tradition of being a pioneer in several measures like introduction of online booking, payment of credit cards, 10% discount on return journey, 10% discount for the senior citizens, 10% discount for group booking, Zero waiting time, Reservation of seats for ladies, 10% discount on the reservation tickets against purchasing of one year valid Rs.500/- card, introduction of one week valid Rs.500/- card to travel any bus in SETC and if passenger travels five times for a particular destination the 6th time travel will be permitted at free of cost.

The crew of SETC were suitably trained to behave politely with passengers. Since beginning this Corporation has always maintained Cordial relations with passengers. The crew of SETC are dedicated towards the service needed by the old age persons, children and physically handicapped. Well trained drivers are utilized to drive the vehicle as SETC covers long distance especially operating night services. The drivers are strictly instructed not to drive the vehicles in drunken mood.

SETC : A separate entity exclusively for operating long distance express services was conceived by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1975 and the services were transferred to the newly formed express wing of Pallavan Transport Corporation with effect from 15 September 1975.

It was registered formally on 14 January 1980 and renamed as Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation (TTC) in honor of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. During 1990s, JJTC was formed which operated interstate routes of erstwhile TTC. JJTC was then renamed as RGTC in 1996. Both TTC and RGTC was later merged into State express transport corporation (SETC) in 1997.
