Kannur:  The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) swiftly acted on a private bus which was plying at 110 kms per hour on the National Highway and cancelled its permit on Saturday. The Kannur-Kozhikode `Karuvans’ bus was nabbed by the MVD officials using a mobile app.

MVD officials on Saturday morning began their move to track traffic violators and were tracking a speeding bus from Chala itself. The officials began following the bus and at the Kannur bus stand it was seized by the officials. A case was also booked against the driver of the vehicle.

Many other vehicles plying without valid documents were also seized and cases booked against drivers.  A school bus without a fitness certificate and tax documents was also seized. The school bus was plying without renewing the fitness certificate for the past 4 months.

The MVD department intensified their drive to nab those flouting road rules after the bus accident at Chovva last month.  A mobile app called Speedometer is being used to nab overspeeding vehicles. Many permits of over speeding buses have been cancelled.
