Water kiosks were installed in various parts of the city on Monday as part of the ‘Own Your Water’ project, an initiative spearheaded by actor Mammootty. The water kiosk at the Kaloor bus stand was inaugurated by actor Salim Kumar, while the one at the KSRTC bus station was launched by actor Kunchacko Boban. “We should find the source for the water we use. We should be prepared to deal with the summer seasons in the coming years, by conserving rainwater. If we can retain rainwater in the soil, we would be able to fight the drought. Measures should be initiated to conserve the portion of rainwater that gets drained into rivers and seas.

‘Own Your Water’ is the first step towards that goal,” said Mammooty. Kuchacko Boban said he would whole-heartedly support the initiative. Vigilance SP R Nisanthini also attended the function. Around 60 water kiosks were installed in various parts of the city as part of the project. Also, nearly 20,000 litre of water was transported to areas where residents face water shortage, including Vallarpadam, Eroor, Girinagar, Kothamangalam, Nellikuzhy, Chottanikkara, Kuzhiyara, Mulanthuruthy, Edakkattuvayal and Edakochi on Monday. The organisers said the project was getting support from across the state, and that they were trying to expand it to the other districts.
