A plan for setting up a mobility hub in Alappuzha will be submitted to the government within three months. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting at the district Collectorate here on Saturday.

Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac, Public Works Minister G.Sudhakaran, and Transport minister A.K. Saseendran took part in the meeting.

Dr. Isaac said Rs.500 crore had been set apart in the State budget for development of Alappuzha town. An amount of Rs.300 crore would be spent on the mobility hub. The hub would provide convergence of water transport, road transport, and rail. Twelve acres in possession of different departments would be utilised for the project.

Mr.Sudhakaran said the project would be completed with the cooperation of the KSRTC, Railways, and the water transport authority. About Rs.50 crore had been set apart in the budget for modification of canals in the town.
