KSRTC participated in a tsunami mock drill which conducted in Aryad South village today. The programme was intended to assess the preparedness of the disaster mitigation agencies to tackle major natural calamities.

Those residing in houses within 100 metres from the coast evacuated as part of the drill. About 1,000 homes along a 4.5-km stretch from United Club area in Sea View ward of Alappuzha municipality to Thumpoly church was under the exercise.  The police asked to look after the homes from where people removed.

Police, Fire and Rescue Services, medical services, personnel of Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, KSRTC and other government departments arrived at the area considered for the rescue operations. Emergency medicare facility made available at the hospital nearby. Awareness campaign on the mock drill has been conducted in the area, according to officials.
