Kerala state road transport corporation (KSRTC) will operate special services as part of Attukal Pongala festival. Additional special services from city, Pappanamcode, Vikas Bhavan, Vellanad and Peroorkada units will be operated till Saturday.

Special services will be operated from Kollam, Kottarakkara, Punalur and Pathanamthitta on Friday and these services will return on Saturday.

The KSRTC has also announced stops from where bus services will resume after the Pongala ritual on Saturday. Bus services to Poovar and Vizhnjam areas will be operated from Government Higher Secondary School at Kamaleswaram, buses to Pettah, Kannammoola and Kesavadasapuram will start from Fort High School area, buses to Thirumala, Jagathy, Pangode and Neyyattinkara will be operated from Killipalam-Karamana-Pappanamcode road, buses to Vattiyoorkavu, Attingal, Nedumangad, Neyyattinkara Kattakada areas will start from East Fort and buses to Pappanamcode will be operated from Maruthoorkadavu.

 KSRTC squad inspectors and vigilance officer will be deployed for monitoring the services.

KSRTC will operate 12 additional schedules from Kollam and Kottarakkara, eight from Punalur and six from Pathanamthitta, two from Haripad, three from Kayamkulam and one each from Konni and Kulathupuzha.

“For the convenience of the devotees, additional schedules should be operated from afternoon hours of Friday till Saturday or till the rush of Pongala devotees subsides. The staff should not be allotted duty off or weekly off on Friday and Saturday. In case of traffic disruption and need to divert the route of the buses, the unit officers at Thiruvananthapuram Central, City, Pappanamcode and Vikas Bhavan should seek help from the police.
The unit officer should take required steps to operate all stay services on Friday,” said a memorandum issued by chief traffic manager (in-charge of executive director of operations).
