KSRTC is not Thachankary’s private property : Pannyan Ravindran

The spat between CPI leader Panniyan Ravindran and KSRTC managing director Tomin J Thachankary has intensified on Friday with the latter threatening the politician with legal action if he fails to provide enough proof to back up his allegations.

What provoked the IPS officer is Panniyan Ravindran’s allegations against him on Thursday at a stir launched by trade unions. The stir was against Thachankary’s decision to sack a few employees. The CPI leader had alleged that the IPS officer had plans to take commission from private parties while taking buses on lease.

Refuting all allegations by Panniyan, the KSRTC MD, in a letter to the CPI leader, pointed out that no buses had been leased by the corporation after he took charge as and the question of accepting commission did not arise. “Each of my decisions is based on the LDF government’s declared policies. It is painful to be at the receiving end of unfounded allegations,” said the letter.

Thachankary reminded Panniyan that as an officer appointed by the LDF government, he was bound to implement official policies. Any violation should be pointed out through official channels and not at a public meeting, said the KSRTC MD.

The letter also warns Panniyan that unless his allegations are supported with proof, legal procedures would be launched. In his speech, the CPI leader had called up on the government to check the ‘anti-labour’ policies implemented by Thachankary. “KSRTC is nobody’s private property,” he had stated.
