KSRTC festival fare hike only for Sabarimala

Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has announced 30 percent hike in bus fares which conduct Sabarimala special service. The hike will be applicable in all buses to Sabarimala from various depots in the state. The revised fare will come into effect from Friday.

300 buses from various depots will conduct Sabarimala special service for the Mandala – Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. 50 buses will operate service from Pampa to various places and 250 buses will take pilgrims to Pampa from various depots.

200 non-AC buses and 50 AC buses will operate service on the Nilakkal-Pampa route. A ticket fare of Rs 40 and Rs 75 will be charged for non AC and AC buses respectively.

As per the government order, festival fare and ghat road fare are applicable for Sabarimala special buses, said KSRTC MD Tomin J Thachankary.

Only pilgrims will be allowed to board these buses. The buses will have stops as per the demand of the pilgrims.

Apart from the pilgrimage season, KSRTC is conducting bus service to Pampa from six depots in normal days. 30 percent fare hike is not applicable to these buses.

Recently a case was reported that this revised fare was illegally charged from passengers in a bus from Pathanamthitta to Pampa. As this was brought to notice, KSRTC authority took action against KSRTC Unit officer R Maneesh who gave sanction to charge revised fare.
