The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation will cut down almost 500 unprofitable services to be used as Sabarimala Special services. As per the plan, services with an income of less than Rs 7000 per day will be cancelled.

As per the direction, buses having less than three years of service will be deployed for Sabarimala special service. Their original routes would be substituted with cancelled buses. So far, a list of 2000 buses from 93 depots have been prepared.

Sabarimala special servies will begin from November 11. There are two phases. The first phase will have 237 buses – 100 from Pamba, 35 from Chengannur, 28 from Kottayam, and 19 from Pathanamthitta. In the second phase there will be 150 buses.

During previous years, KSRTC used to issue 150 new services to Sabarimala. However, this year, due to debt, the corporation found it difficult to do that.
