KSRTC bus plied from Kalpetta to Bengaluru with one passenger; action taken against staff concerned
A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus recently plied from Kalpetta in Waynad district of Kerala to Bengaluru with one passenger. The state-owned corporation is running at a loss.
While KSRTC staff claim that such a service with minimum passengers in the corporation is given, the corporation MD Tomin Thachankary, who took over in April this year, has decided to take action against the officials concerned, according to an online Malayalam portal.
Thachankary has ordered an inquiry into the matter. The loss incurred to the corporation during that Bengaluru service will be acquired from the assistant transport officer K Jayakumar, who has also been transferred to Kattappana.
The KSRTC bus made the trip to Bengaluru with one passenger on July 5, 9.30 pm. The officials should have normally examined the reservation chart and if there wasn’t enough passengers, they should have cancelled the service and arranged alternative service for the reserved passengers.
Thachankary, a controversial officer himself, was posted as KSRTC MD in April this year. While Thachankary is reportedly trying to bring in reforms the employees complain that he is treating them in a humiliating way.
