The Leftist Union in the KSRTC has decided to call a 48-hour strike in protest against allotting permits for private buses in the routes of Super Fast buses. The office bearers of the Union have informed that the meeting scheduled for 24th of this month will decide the dates of the strike.

There has been huge outcry against allotting permits for private buses to ply on the routes of Super Fast KSRTC buses. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakorishnan in rection said the permits for private buses were being renewed to due to shortage of buses with KSRTC.

It was in July, 2013 that the government had decided to take over the permits of the private buses plying on KSRTC Fast and Super Fast bus routes. Accordingly, the government took over 95 routes for which permits for private buses had lapsed and plied KSRTC buses on 46 routes. It’s the private bus permits for these routes that the government has decided to renew.
