Coming Soon… An Anthem for KSRTC; Says new MD Tomin Thachangary
Tomin J. Thachankary has been posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), with additional charge of Managing Director of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
Tomin Thachankary was assured of a captive audience when he took the driving seat of the ailing Kerala State Road Transport Corporation on Monday. The officer offered to flaunt his tabla skills before the employees of the state transporter who stared at a bleak future without salaries or pensions. He also told there will be release an anthem (song) for KSRTC.
Thachankary chose to drum up support from the workers by pairing up with a retired conductor on stage. He introduced his companion as his tabla guru. The ‘guru’, however, seemed to be worried more about pension than percussion.
The employees at the KSRTC headquarters had the episode fresh in their memory when they were asked to attend Thachankary’s takeover at 11 am on Monday. They heaved a sigh of relief when they learned that they only had to listen to the impromptu tabla concert. After the tabla concert, Thachankary said that he would ensure flawless payment of salaries and pensions if the workers stood by him. He ruled out any administration along with workers’ unions.
